Pic-A-day!

Here's a few pic-a-day pics from the past few days. I've missed a day or two, but I'm still working on it! :)

October 3rd, 2009:
[livejournal.com profile] viesti, [livejournal.com profile] chainsaw_hime, and [livejournal.com profile] danagrrl took me to my first Rennaissance Fair.

Prosopagnosia has only recently been recognized as a distinct neurological condition in people. As such, the methods of analyzing it have yet to be fully refined. I've found, for example, that if you show me a photo of someone, I can recognize that exact photo pretty easily. But if you show me a photo of someone and then a different photo of the same person in a different pose, I have a hard time telling if the two are the same or not.

How did they text you, out of curiosity?

They showed me a bunch of faces with the head-hair cropped out or removed somehow. Just bare faces. Then they showed me a bunch more faces and I had to decide which of them were ones I had already seen. I think they were from different angles on the same person and other changes between pictures too.

Looking at them I had only the vaguest ideas, if any idea at all, about which of them looked familiar. But supposedly my results were pretty normal.

Huh. Some people think there's a bell curve of facial recognition abilities. Perhaps you're within the lower range of normal or something? I'm definitely outside the norm, but I'm not TOO too bad at it... My test results seem to show I'm about middle of the range as far as prosopagnosiacs go. I'm right in between the worst face-blind people and normal people, or something.
